Drake vs. T. Boone Pickens
T. Boone Pickens is a rich-as-fuck Texas hedge funder. Drake, as you know, is a rich-as-fuck emo rapper. Last night they made sweet Twitter comedy together. Sometimes the Internet really does seem like something special, doesn’t it?
I just wanted to say a few things about Amendment One that passed in NC on Tuesday.
Most people don’t know that same-sex marriages already are not recognized by NC law. The amendment didn’t change anything on that front. What it did do was protect that law from being declared unconstitutional by “activist judges”. So really they took already-existing law and made it harder to overturn. It’s still shitty and hateful and I’m disappointed in the result but it’s not like NC woke up on Tuesday and decided two dudes can’t tie the knot. No matter what happened on Tuesday, on Wednesday homosexual couples still would not have been allowed to marry in NC.

“Same-sex couples should be able to get married.”—President Obama
I told you to be patient
I told you to be fine
I told you to be balanced
I told you to be kind
Now all your love is wasted
Then who the hell was I?
Now I’m breaking at the britches
And at the end of all your lines
I hope you love your life like I love mine
I hope the painful memories only flex their power over you a little of the time
we held on to hope of better days coming
and when we did we were right
i hope the people who did you wrong
have trouble sleeping at night
Stephon stood just a few feet away from Barack Obama. The president, busy shaking hands, looked right at him. “It was like he was waiting for me to say something,” he said later.
So the 26-year-old Prince George’s Community College student took his cue and spoke to President Obama in his first language: American Sign Language.
“I am proud of you,” Stephon signed. The president, almost involuntary, instinctively, immediately signed back.
“Thank you,” Obama replied.

I’m not kidding. All of them. Now that I have a grown-up job and received a couple of paychecks I decided it was time to get myself some clothes that I’ve been meaning to purchase. Check it.
Shoes

Reef sandals. I actually already have a pair of these and have owned them for probably 8 years but they’ve always been two sizes too big. These things are some of the most durable pieces of footwear I’ve ever owned. It’s time to get a pair that actually fit.

Regular Keds sneakers. I was just looking for a simple sneaker that’d look great with khakis.

Bedstu Cosburns. I wanted a pair of dressy casual black leather shoes that’d get a great aged look the more I wore them. I’m not a big fan of thick-soled oxfords so I went with these guys.
Clothes

Tailored slim fit check shirt. One of my goals is to start dressing a little more like Ben Wyatt from Parks and Rec. That means checkered/plaid dress shirts, sleeves rolled up, and a simple tie. My buddy that still works at Banana hooked me up with a Friends and Family coupon.

Lightweight full-zip jacket. I’ve actually owned this jacket before. It was stolen when I was at shitty John Barleycorn in Chicago for my ex-girlfriend’s birthday. My main fall/spring outerwear has been an old navy fleece pullover that’s 6 years old. It was time to upgrade (again).

Navy shorts. The only pair of shorts I’ve bought since high school are some seersucker ones that I got less than a year ago. All my other shorts are cargo and fuck cargo. So I grabbed a pair of these navy ones that’ll go great with my Sperry’s. I also picked up a pair of khaki ones that’ll be awesome with the aforementioned Keds.

Tailored straight fit khakis in navy. I have a pair of the tailored slim fits but they’re too small for me now. But I fucking love these things. I might pick up a khaki colored version of these guys if the navy ones fit me well.

Slim fit poplin shirt. Got one in white as well. I needed a couple more casual basics for when it gets hot as hell in a couple months.

A normal belt. I’ve had the same black belt since freshman year of high school and it’s close to falling apart. Time to upgrade.
And lastly I ordered a pack of v-neck white undershirts and a dozen pairs of white ankle socks. I’ve had the same white crew neck undershirts since high school and a lot of my ankle socks have holes in the heels.
And now I can’t afford to eat for a couple weeks.
